1984 Star 172 Magic Johnson

Hello! I have a question concerning the 1984-85 Star "base" set. The #172 Magic Johnson has a very low number of copies graded -- I think only 207 total by BGS and 113 by PSA (likely with plenty of BGS-to-PSA crossover in the past 2 years). This seems like a really low number for one of the game's Top 10 players. Is this card a short print? I think the 1983 Star base Magic might be a short print, but I now wonder about the 1984 Magic given the low number of graded copies. Thanks in advance for your thoughts!
